Shanghai Gets Keys to 2020 League of Legends World Championship Finals
With millions watching from around the world as FunPlus Phoenix captured their first League of Legends World Championship with a clean sweep over G2 Esports, Riot Games announced that Shanghai would serve as Host City of 2020 Final.
The 10th World Championship Finals next year will be held in Shanghai Stadium, the current home of the Chinese Super League reigning championship. The venue, which seats more than 55,000 people, has held multiple different scaled domestic and international sports events including the 2008 Summer Olympics soccer preliminaries.
Shanghai previously hosted the 2017 World Championship semifinals where more than 80 million viewers watched Samsung Galaxy beat Team WE and SK Telecom T1 overcome RNG in five epic games.
