Esports Entertainment Group is going another round with Take-Two and the NBA 2K League, delivering talent analytics and scouting technologies to the league and teaming up for the new edition of the NBA 2K League Draft and Combine. “We are extremely excited to continue our relationship with the NBA 2K League. The season will feature 27 professional EA SPORTS FIFA players, each representing an MLS club and will be played exclusively on PlayStation 5. Play begins on Jan 11. For the first time, all participating clubs will stream each of their season qualifying matches on their respective official social channels, providing clubs with new competitive content representing up to a record-setting 350 hours of live coverage and offering fans more opportunities to watch eMLS players compete at every tournament stage. Call of Duty League will reportedly revert back to all 12 teams for its Major tournaments in 2022. Dot Esports reports that the league had a change of heart after announcing that only eight of the dozen franchises would be able to qualify for the four tentpole events. The LCS turns 10 with 2022 on the calendar, and the league is lining up a slate of celebratory initiatives to mark the occasion as the new season gears up for play. In honor of our 10-year anniversary, the LCS will be offering a variety of activities and content across the 2022 competitive season. According to the announcement, “Old faces will appear on broadcast as we look back on iconic LCS moments, and expect special episodes of our LCS shows to air throughout the season. Our programming will culminate at the 2022 LCS Championship Weekend — location and date to be announced in the coming months — a perfect domestic capstone as all eyes turn to Worlds 2022 in North America.” Speaking of which, the LCS preseason kicks in on Jan. 14 with the LCS 2022 Lock In tournament as 10 LCS teams compete ahead of the regular-season start. The first weekend will have games on Friday, Saturday and Sunday with each day offering a total of five games. Mission Control and Xfinity are teaming up for a new esports tournament docket called the Xfinity City Series. Events will take place in Baltimore, Boston, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and Washington DC across a span of of three months and will feature Fortnite, Rocket League, and Super Smash Bros.
